Governor Ron DeSantis has now reportedly announced a significant investment aimed at enhancing Florida’s workforce, awarding a $4 million grant to Indian River State College.
This funding, part of the state’s Job Growth Grant Fund, is designated for the development of the college’s Institute for Industrial Manufacturing and Production Training.
The newly established institute will provide accelerated, hands-on courses focusing on quality control, inspection systems, and automation.
These programs are specifically designed to address the increasing needs of local manufacturers along the Treasure Coast.
During the announcement, DeSantis emphasized the importance of these jobs, stating, “This is about jobs where one person can support a family. This is something that is really, really significant.”
The governor highlighted that Florida has seen the creation of over 100,000 manufacturing jobs since 2019, indicating that investments like this grant are essential for maintaining that growth trajectory.
Alongside Indian River State College, several other institutions and communities across Florida also received funding to support similar initiatives.
Since its inception in 2019, the Job Growth Grant Fund has reportedly contributed to the creation of nearly 40,000 jobs statewide, showcasing its impact on employment and economic development in Florida.
This initiative aims not only to bolster the local economy but also to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in advanced manufacturing careers.
