The Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, has reportedly now expressed his support for the concept of eliminating property taxes across the Sunshine State. However, he also explained that this would necessitate a constitutional amendment.

The Governor, who is presently completing his second term as governor of Florida after winning a decisive re-election in the 2022 gubernatorial elections, was responding to someone on X who pushed for the elimination of property taxes in the state and asked what steps would be required to make that happen.

“Property taxes are local, not state. So we’d need to do a constitutional amendment (requires 60% of voters to approve) to eliminate them (which I would support) or even to reform/lower them,” DeSantis remarked.

“We should put the boldest amendment on the ballot that has a chance of getting that 60%,” he added.

The concept was praised by Eric Trump, who is one of President Donald Trump’s sons. Eric Trump reposted the post that DeSantis made.

Since the governor posted the tweet on Thursday evening, it has received more than 50,000 likes. This is the number of likes at this point.

at 2023, DeSantis made an effort to run for president, but he ultimately decided against it and endorsed Trump at the beginning of 2024. This was after he finished in a relatively distant second place in the Iowa Republican presidential caucus.
