On Tuesday morning, a memorial service was reportedly held in West Palm Beach, Florida, to honor the three Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office deputies who were fatally injured in an accident nearly two weeks ago.
The event was attended by thousands of individuals.
On November 21, a Jeep SUV struck Deputy Sheriff Ignacio “Dan” Diaz, Deputy Sheriff Ralph “Butch” Waller, and Corporal Luis Paez as they were parked on the median of Southern Boulevard, just west of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road near Wellington, with their motorcycles.
Diaz was initially in critical condition and underwent surgery at the hospital; however, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Waller and Paez were pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after the collision.
Margo Martin, Trump’s deputy director of communications, shared images on X of DeSantis, Trump, and Eric Trump at the memorial, indicating that President-elect Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis were in attendance.
It was anticipated that over 7,000 individuals would attend the memorial on Tuesday.
A public memorial was scheduled to be held at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach.
The procession was scheduled to commence at 9:30 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m., which was anticipated to conclude at approximately 2 p.m.
Bradshaw stated during a press conference following the accident that the three deputies were directed to the verge of the road on their motorcycles due to an apparent malfunction with one of them.
Bradshaw further stated that a woman operating her SUV on Southern Boulevard encountered a driver who was traveling at a slower pace than she was.
The driver attempted to pass by veering toward the shoulder, but he “overcompensated” and collided with all three deputies, causing them to be “flung into the air.”
