Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) anticipates that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) will reportedly select Lara Trump to succeed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who was appointed by President-elect Trump to serve as Secretary of State.
“I think Lara Trump is the right person to replace him. He’s going to be hard to replace. I met her back when she worked at E Network and she is a hard worker; she is committed,” Scott said.
“You watch what she did at the RNC this election cycle, what a great job she did on election security, making sure we got the vote at. I think she’ll be a great partner, and I look forward to serving with her,” he added.
Scott had previously expressed his support for Lara as Rubio’s successor shortly after he was nominated.
He has advised Governor Ron DeSantis to nominate the Republican National Committee co-chair to serve as Florida’s representative.
Since his appointment, Rubio has faced criticism from his colleagues for failing to attend the Capitol on Tuesday to vote, which enabled Democrats to make last-minute judicial appointments in their final hour of power.
