On Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) reportedly stated that it was “delusional” for Vice President Harris to try to accuse him of “political gamesmanship” in response to reports that he did not respond to the Democratic presidential nominee’s calls as his state prepared for Hurricane Milton.
Harris was questioned on Monday regarding her reporting that DeSantis was not responding to her calls regarding hurricanes and was not providing her with the necessary resources.
DeSantis responded to the footage by accusing Harris of politicizing the storm.
“And so for Kamala Harris to try to say that my sole focus on the people of Florida is somehow selfish, is delusional,” DeSantis remarked.
“She has no role in this. In fact, she’s been vice president for three and a half years. I’ve dealt with a number of storms under this administration. She has never contributed anything to any of these efforts, and so what I think is selfish is her trying to blunder into this,” he added.
He underscored that he has successfully managed numerous storms during his tenure as governor and praised his collaborative relationships with former President Trump and Vice President Biden.
It is anticipated that Hurricane Milton will make landfall in Tampa, Florida, on Wednesday evening.
This city has not been directly affected by a hurricane in over a century.
Officials are advising the public to act promptly in accordance with the evacuation orders that are currently in effect for a significant portion of the region.
DeSantis announced on Monday that tolls have been suspended to simplify the evacuation procedure.
