The campaign of Vice President Harris announced on Saturday that she has accepted an invitation from CNN to participate in a second debate with former President Trump next month.
“Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump, and she has accepted CNN’s invitation to a debate on October 23,” Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon announced in a new statement.
The Harris campaign requested a second debate against her Republican opponent shortly after the conclusion of their Sept. 10 match-up on ABC.
However, Trump has stated that he will not participate in another debate.
On Saturday, a CNN spokesperson asserted that both Harris and Trump were invited to participate in the debate this autumn.
The network stated that the debate would be held in Atlanta and would be similar to the one between Trump and Biden.
The Harris campaign reiterated their contention that voters are entitled to witness an additional debate between the two nominees prior to the election.
“The American people deserve another opportunity to see Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate before they cast their ballots. It would be unprecedented in modern history for there to just be one general election debate. Debates offer a unique chance for voters to see the candidates side by side and take stock of their competing visions for America.” O’Malley Dillon stated.
So far the Trump campaign has not responded to the Harris campaign’s new offer.
