Governor Ron DeSantis announced $122 million in funding for Florida counties to repair rural transportation infrastructure during a press conference in Lake City on Tuesday.
The monies will be distributed through FDOT’s Small County Outreach Program and Small County Resurfacing Assistance Program for the fiscal year 2024-25.
“Rural counties face unique infrastructure challenges, so we are ensuring they have the resources needed for long-term success. These investments will improve infrastructure and attract new businesses to Florida’s rural communities.” DeSantis announced.
Officials stated that one-third of the $122 million will go to rural communities affected by Hurricanes Idalia and Debby.
He was accompanied by Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue.
