Anthony Fauci, the former chief medical adviser of the White House, is reportedly recuperating at home following a brief hospitalization due to the West Nile virus, according to his spokesperson, who informed numerous outlets on Saturday.

Fauci, who was the spokesperson for the Trump and Biden administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, was hospitalized for approximately six days.

The West Nile virus is transmitted through mosquito stings. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the illness may induce diarrhea, fever, rash, and body pains.

At present, there are no vaccines or treatments that are available for the virus.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 1,000 Americans are currently hospitalized with a severe strain of the virus.

Fauci was summoned to testify before House Republicans earlier this year regarding his response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

December 2022 marked the doctor’s retirement from his roles as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and as a member of the Biden administration.
