On Thursday, the official union of U.S. Customs and Border Protection issued a statement endorsing the efforts of the Texas National Guard to fortify the southern border while condemning the “catastrophic” border policies implemented by the Biden administration.
Over 18,000 members of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) stated that “rank-and-file” Border Patrol agents respect and value the steps Texas has taken to repel the unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants into the United States during Biden’s administration.
“TX NG and rank-and-file BP agents work together and respect each other’s jobs. Period. If TX NG members have LAWFUL orders, then they have to carry out those orders.” the NBPC stated.
In an effort to deter unauthorized border crossings, Texas Governor Greg Abbott increased his use of razor wire earlier this week, following the Supreme Court’s ruling that Border Patrol agents possess the power to cut through the wire in order to admit illegal immigrants.
The objective of the Border Patrol union’s statement was to provide clarification that there was no obstruction whatsoever in the way Texas National Guard soldiers executed their “lawful orders” by rank-and-file Border Patrol agents, and conversely.
