Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reportedly responded to a new report about a land developer in Texas who has created an expansive settlement north of Houston where thousands of illegal immigrants are believed to have settled by stating that he will put an end to it as president.

The Colony Ridge development, located in Liberty County, Texas, near the small town of Plum Grove, is an expansive community that, according to an analysis of publicly available data, is now over 60 square miles in size and nearly the size of the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.

“How have we gotten to a point in this country where we are permitting and facilitating sprawling developments to house thousands of illegal immigrants who have broken our nation’s laws? Weak, spineless leaders. Our national sovereignty is at stake. We must stop excusing inaction at the top. I will end this.” DeSantis wrote on social media.

Its population is estimated to be between 50,000 and 75,000, and it is expanding swiftly due to a marketing strategy aimed at the Hispanic population of Texas.

The Republican lieutenant governor of Texas, Dan Patrick, announced on Tuesday that he will ask Governor Greg Abbott to convene a special legislative session to address concerns about Colony Ridge, which many fear has become a strategic hub for Mexican traffickers operating in the United States.
