After learning that Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss had been named special counsel in the Hunter Biden criminal investigation by U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland after Weiss previously consented to a highly contentious plea deal that was rejected in court, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reportedly slammed the Biden Department of Justice on Friday.
“Just saw the news about the Hunter Biden Special Counsel. Just seems to me that they’re going to find a way to give him some type of soft glove treatment. And I don’t understand why you would appoint this guy to be the special counsel. But we’ve come to expect that.” DeSantis said while addressing members of the media in Iowa.
“And so I think that there was a lot that he’s done, particularly with the corruption, that really should be pursued. I just have not seen that. I’m not confident that this arrangement is going to lead to that, but it should.” he continued.
“You know, you see this stuff with Hunter Biden and it’s like, if he were Republican … he’d be in jail by now. And we all know that. You know, the good thing about us is, you know, my kids are six, five and three, so they ain’t going to be bringing any cocaine into the White House when I’m president. Don’t worry about that. There may be some finger paint. There may be some stuff that happens, but it’s going to be G-rated.” he added later in the day while addressing voters from the stage.
DeSantis made light of the fact that his daughter, who is six, is a better artist than Hunter Biden and suggested that the family try selling her paintings since the vice president has made millions of dollars from selling his artwork.
