In response to new allegations that he accepted $5 million in bribes from a Ukrainian oligarch, the Never Back Down PAC reportedly released a brutal new attack ad on Tuesday targeting the DeSantis-aligned President Joe Biden.
The advertisement, which is based on claims made in an FBI confidential human source report discovered by Republican investigators in Congress, accuses Biden and his son, Hunter, of collecting bribe money from the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.
In the advertisement, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is running for president, is hailed as the guy who would restore a broken justice system and accuses the Biden administration of using a double standard to the enforcement of laws.
The prosecutor was Viktor Shokin, a former prosecutor general for Ukraine, whom Biden assisted in deposing in 2016 while serving as the U.S. vice president.
Internationally, Shokin was regarded with suspicion for his alleged involvement in corruption. While Hunter Biden was on the board of Burisma, he was simultaneously promoting a probe into the firm.
When Petro Poroshenko was president of Ukraine, then-Vice President Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in loan guarantees from him unless Shokin was sacked.
Trump’s initial impeachment, according to the DeSantis advertisement, was an effort to hide wrongdoing and save Biden.
The advertisement also promotes DeSantis as the ideal choice to control an unruly FBI and Justice Department.
