On MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki” on Sunday, Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., reportedly offered some political advice to Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., saying he should “pack up and wait a few years” before confronting former President Donald Trump.
The far-left California Governor attempted to claim that DeSantis would get “rolled” by Trump.
“He’s going to get rolled by Trump. Trump is just going to roll him. Thumped. I, honestly, if I were offering political advice, I would tell him to pack it up and wait a few years and actually do some of the hard work, which actually includes governing, not just identity and culture war,” Newsom said.
DeSantis, according to Newsom, should address “insurance difficulties” in addition to “expense challenges,” and work on expanding Medicaid.
Newsom stated that he will also be focused on the environment and “Mother Nature.”
“This is a serious moment in American history, world history. I hope he would start to focus on some of those issues, that would be my advice. Come back as a more season capable leader with a little humility. Which by the way, he could use little of,” Newsom continued.
Earlier in the conversation, the California Governor stated that he was “not a fan” of Governor DeSantis.
Newsom survived a recall attempt in September of 2021 which was attempted due to the unpopularity of many of his covid policies in the state.
In contrast DeSantis was re-elected in 2022 by almost 20 points, a historic margin.
Newsom is widely expected to be a top contender for the Democratic nomination in either 2024 or 2028 if President Joe Biden is unable or unwilling to run.
However a March poll showed that 70 percent of California voters disapproved of Newsom potentially running for President in 2024.
