The group WPA Intelligence, has just released a new poll that reportedly shows DeSantis ahead of Donald Trump in a one-on-one Republican primary in Georgia and tied with Trump at the top of a larger GOP field.
According to the polling report DeSantis, who has been lagging Trump in national polls, wins 48% to 38% in a hypothetical head-to-head fight against the former president.
When the field was expanded to include six other potential Republican hopefuls, all of whom registered in the single digits, the survey conducted by WPA Intelligence found DeSantis at 37% and Trump at 36%.

The survey was conducted across the state of Georgia and included 629 likely Republican primary voters.
After DeSantis and Trump in the larger primary field, WPA’s poll found that former Representative Liz Cheney, a Republican from Wyoming who played a prominent role in the House committee that investigated Trump’s actions leading up to the riot on January 6 at the Capitol, was in a distant third place, with only 8% of the vote.

Nikki Haley, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and the former governor of the adjacent state of South Carolina, came in second place, with 4% of the vote, followed by former Vice President Mike Pence, who received 3% of the vote.
It is planned that DeSantis would deliver a speech on Thursday afternoon in Smyrna, Georgia, as he travels on a tour around the country to promote his recently released political book and meet with Republican groups in crucial states.
